One of the nicest things that happens when you are an author, is that people write you thank you notes, like you have given them a really great gift that they are super happy with, even though they’ve had to pay £5.99 for it or something like that. This is one of my favourite cards. I’m still not sure if Adam Sandler will be in the movies. I forwarded the email on to Harvey Weinstein but he said Adam was too busy shooting that Zoltan film where he’s a secret agent hairdresser.

It's really great when kids make or do stuff because of your story. All I ever did when I was young was draw comics and write stories about my favourite films and TV shows and books. I spent a whole summer once with my friend retelling the first Star Wars film, only all the characters were breakfast foods. Like, there was FLAN Solo and Darth BLACK COFFEE (that second one isn't so good, I know it, but coffee tasted like pure evil back then.) I'm a real believer in fan art, and fan fiction, and fans in general, especially in summer, because it gets really hot at my desk.

This is an awesome display about Lilliput by Mrs Dugdale at Liphook Junior School. Mrs Dugdale assured me that the gigantic hand had not been severed from its body, that was just an artistic effect.

This is the City of London School, which is a nice school that does AMAZING school lunches and a church organ and rooms with names like ‘The Lord Asquith Room’.

Isla and Mark run a fantastic bookshop in Kew, right by the station. They made this brilliant window display for my launch party, which was loads of fun. Thanks Isla and Mark! GO TO THEIR SHOP AND BUY STUFF.

I have a wall display – just like the Romans and the Water Cycle! This was made by Dulwich Hamlet Junior school, which is really close to where I used to live in South London.
